the Beauty of nature

Image
Carolyn did this picture when she was painting from a picture on Lake Michigan of a boat. Her teacher at the time was the Doris W. The instructor said that she did not need to paint every single wave individually.  Bent on being an Individualist, she sat down and painted every single wave individually according to the way she saw the picture. She was always determine to paint every painting in realistic detail.       Carolyn did her first oil painting entirely with a palate knife. I believe this was a from a picture that she took in black and white of mountians in California.

Her husband was the inspiration for a series of farm pictures based in the early 1940's or sooner.

Image
In the 1970's, Carolyn had a oil painting studio in the finished basement of their new bilevel that they built in Delafield in 1973 in a new subdivision. This painting used to sit at the end of the hallway of her mother's house in my Bloomington. St. John in Delafield.
